Reality Bites is one of my favorite movies and this post is making me feel the need to rewatch. Great observations about how the film portrays the best ways to show up for a friend :)
“I’m here for you,” is such a heartwarming thing to hear. And yet when I say it to others, it can feel empty, because I offer nothing concrete. I’m still learning how to be a better friend to others just by being present.
I honestly blame Reality Bites for my terrible dating life in my 20s. I was so obessed with Troy Dyer that I kept trying to date men like him. (I was so obsessed that I didn't notice the not terrific friendship advice. Though I do remember: "I'm not going to fold sweaters at the Gap, Vickie.")
